Eulogy

Metropolis, 2016.
A slim, shady silhouette sits
cross-legged
in his silent, dark apartment.
Unfazed by his broken-down plumbing
or overdue power bills.
A petty thief,
with a mind
like a tv
turned to static.
Every creak,
every whisper,
every siren
goes undetected.
A stressed out
modulated gangster
imitating a pure mystic.
A rat
in a cage
with a dream.

A policeman kicks in the door.
